Gate Crafters gates are constructed from 6061-T6 rust-free wrought aluminum alloy. 6061-T6 is a high-grade alloy with a yield strength of 35,000 lbs./sq. inch, twice the yield strength of mild steel and 6063 aluminum. Why do we use such a strong alloy? Because we believe in offering the best to our customers. You get top-tier resiliency and durability, resulting in a quality, dent-resistant, and attractive gate. We also know that shipping can be rough, so we use this higher-grade aluminum to help prevent damage in transit.

Most companies use steel or 6063 aluminum, which are weaker, bend more easily, and are more prone to dents. These materials can’t withstand daily wear like 6061-T6 can. Other companies forget that you, the consumer, shouldn't have to worry about your gate looking worn, old, or damaged. When your gate is bumped or hit, it should return to its original shape. With 6061-T6, the material yields under pressure and regains its form once the pressure is removed.

Each gate comes standard with safety hinges. These specialized ball bearing hinges are equipped with grease fittings and extended to prevent pinch points. They allow for smooth and effortless movement of the gate, offering a higher level of quality compared to standard hinges, with less risk of jamming or rusting.

This hinge design also provides greater adjustability, ensuring a precise and easy DIY installation. Each set is rated at 1,000 lbs., well above the weight of even the heaviest gates from Gate Crafters.

The included grease fittings make lubrication easy and ensure all bearings receive proper maintenance. A ball check in the fitting head keeps dirt and grit out of the hinge barrel, an essential feature for outdoor environments. With these hinges, your gate will swing freely, time after time.

Powder coating is a process in which powdered pigment is applied to a surface and then cured. It begins with mechanical and/or chemical surface treatment to remove impurities and contaminants. The pigment is then applied and cured at high temperatures, causing the particles to flow and chemically bond into a durable polyester coating.

Powder coating is ideal for many surfaces because it contains virtually no volatile organic compounds (VOCs), does not sag or run with thicker coats, and produces minimal waste as overspray can be collected and reused. This makes the process both cost-effective and environmentally friendly.

Approximately six weeks before production begins, our gate design staff will contact you to finalize the placement of ornaments and review your design, ensuring we build a driveway gate you'll love. After your design is confirmed, we’ll guide your gate through the manufacturing process and keep you updated at each stage, including quality checks and final completion.
