FAAC 422 Hydraulic Swing Gate Operator
The FAAC hydraulic gate opener is a fast and reliable gate opener. This unit is self-lubricating which helps with longevity and performance. It operates quietly and because of the compact style, it can be installed in tight spaces. This unit is an electro-hydraulic unit consisting of an electric motor, pump, valve assembly, and hydraulic cylinder all housed in an anodized aluminum oil reservoir. The FAAC 422 can be used as a “pull to open” or “push to open” and provides hydraulic locking in at least one position. The hydraulic lock is more of a service lock instead of security. Additional locks are recommended if:
- Gate is over 12’
- Installation requires high security
- You live in a high vandalism area
- The location has strong or very gusty winds
- Installing to a solid face gate
For dual installations, you can program a slight delay to accommodate the overlapping gate designs. As a safety feature, this single-phase unit shuts off automatically if operating temperatures reach 212 degrees F (100 degrees C). For proper operation, the FAAC 422 operator must have a fixed positive stop in both directions. Another great feature included in this unit is a key operated manual release and two bypass valves that control the force applied to the gate arm. This manual release disengages the hydraulic arm and allows you to manually move your gates. This manual operation is necessary during installation and very useful during a power outage. The two bypass valves are located under the locking cap and need to be adjusted to meet the safety standards of FAAC International, Inc. This safety standard states that the gate arm should stop if it reaches a force of more than 33 lbs. Additional safety devices such as photo eyes and loop detectors can be added to have more complete protection for pedestrians and property.
